WARNING! WARNING! This post contains an obscene amount of Christmas morning pictures. Almost every single gift we opened was documented for all the family that couldn't be there to partake in our Christmas Day. Feel free to continue, but you have been warned.
Christmas morning 2010 (we take one of these every year, and every year J protests!)
The boys
My brother (but we sure missed Abbers!!!!)
Some very nice golf balls from his sister
A quilters travel case filled with great tools from my in-laws
A Grinch ornament from Abbie & Ryan
Iron Man II ... from several sources ;-)
My ornament from Abbie and Ry and it's my favorite! Rudolph!!
Luke got another ornament from the Grandparents (yes, that is an ambulance wearing a sparkly santa hat.)
Jared's Dad sent him the mug he bought at the Ohio State v. Michigan game this year. LOVE that J is holding it upside down ... and he really is oblivious to that fact.
A really neat cookie cookbook that chronicles the best recipes every year from 1941 - today. Thanks Mom & Dan!
My favorite section of the cookbook
Luke got a Best Buy gift card! And I think he's pretty excited about it
Gee, that looks very similar ... because it is also a Best Buy gift card! Thanks Mom & Dan for both of those :)
Luke bought me Casper! The funny thing is that just moments earlier Luke opened the same DVD from J and I.
Luke was very happy about this book from Mom & Dan. He'd been telling me all about how great the movie was just a few days earlier.
Hooray! It's the new purse I asked for (complete with matching wallet) from my in-laws. It's already being used.
Jared's name is on one of the golf bags for the Presidents cup! His parents sent this :)
Luke opening the box from Dad ... black scrubs (for work). There were a LOT of those in that box!
A book from Scotland about the family clan and history (The boys were making fun of some of the names)
A real sheeps' wool scarf in the family tartan with a family pin (again straight from Scotland)
A small bottle of scotch whisky from Scotland! Luke was pretty excited about this too
The card and of course the check!! Very nice :)
Opening our box from Dad; it contained similar items but we got some homemade jam! Yummy!
Jared wasn't left out, he got scotch whisky as well. Thanks for everything Dad!
Luke opening another gift from Abbs and Ry ... only to find out it had been wrapped twice!
An Amazon.com gift certificate. Thanks guys!!
We interrupt this program to bring you the turkey prep! I made the boys rinse, dry and oil the turkey in preparation for it's trip to the oven. Many inappropriate pictures have been cut out (boys!)
Fireman Luke made me a very handy rig for removing the turkey from the roasting pan when it was done cooking. Thank you!
In goes the turkey ... and (after a good hand washing by all) it's back to presents!
A cookie/cupcake decorating kit from King Arthur that I've been eyeing forever from Mom & Dan. Can't wait to take it for a test run!
Luke opening a gift from Mom and Dan (yup, he's already wearing his Scottish scarf!)
Luke modeling the Lands End zip hoodie (which I now want)
From Luke to Jared: Family Guy Star Wars trilogy ... oy! (And of course, we watched all 3 movies later that weekend)
A cutting tool from my in-laws to go with the mat from my sister-in-law (all for quilting!)
Another Best Buy card from his parents!
One of my favorite movies from Abbie and Ryan. Thank you!! (um, that might be the bow from the wrapping in my hair...)
The reading woman calender from Momma & Dan (which I've already started using)
Luke got me this new Christmas movie to add to my collection! Pretty excited about it.
J opening the ornament we got from the Grandparents. Thank you!
An apron from Momma and Dan
It's personalized for our cooking blog! I'm soooo excited about this!
Luke opening a box from Momma & Dan
Lots of nice clothes!
He was particularly happy about the jeans.
You made it! The gift opening is over! On to the food... We had our friends, Brent and Emily over for dinner. We ate about 2pm and then spent the afternoon playing cards and talking to our families on the phone. We really missed everyone in Ohio, Florida, Michigan, Indiana and Qatar! However, we did our best to have a merry little Christmas in California and throw a good birthday party for Jesus!
Our Christmas table
Notice our Christmas crackers? We actually did pull them, read the jokes and wear the paper crowns during dinner. Did I think to take a picture... of course not!
You better believe I put the boys to work in the kitchen. They did a great job making the potatoes and doing dishes for me.
A beautiful (and tasty) Christmas turkey! We also had stuffing, Grandma's rolls, cranberry, green beans, mashed potatoes, corn and sparkling grape juice.
The table laden with good food.
