OUCH!
The 8 fillings are done! Yippie. However, Monday I had 6 done at once, all molars, and it's still rough going in the chewing department. I was also told one of my first fillings probably needed a root canal after all. :( However, that root canal tooth has suddenly stopped bothering me ... or maybe the rest of my teeth just hurt worse? Anyway, not sure that root canal is going to happen! At least not this coming Monday.
This afternoon I have my appointment with the oral surgeon to discuss wisdom tooth removal. I'm not very happy about that one either, but if it must be done then lets get it over with! (And maybe just pull out all my teeth while we're at it and put an end to this silly dentist stuff...)
Anyway, I've got teeth on the brain and I can't wait until everything concerning them is done, DONE, and I can stop worrying about it.
Jared is doing fine. Not even a cavity that I know of. :) He has early simulators this week (6am early) and he isn't very happy about it. But I'm sure he'll survive. He is also getting ready for his giant test that is fast approaching! Only 2 more weeks, or so, until that happens. He also has a check ride to start getting ready for. Hard work yes, but it all means he is getting closer to the end and getting out of Altus AFB!
So that is our news. Teeth and tests. Please keep us both in your prayers!

Busy weekend ... Big day
Mom and I drove down to Indiana and spent the weekend with my Grandparents there. We took down and put away the Christmas tree and such. And mom made a new cake, lemon with blueberry sauce, that was to die for!
Today it was back to the grind for Jared. He got his first ride (during copilot school) in a C-17! It was an early, and long, day but a good one. It is one step closer to being done with this school and together again. (Side note, there are currently only 3 C-17s at Altus AFB, the rest have been deployed to Haiti).
I got to return to the dentist for 2 fillings. Hooray! He had warned me that one tooth might require a root canal, so I was dreading it. Thankfully there was no root canal! (I had no idea they were so expensive?!) However I have to go back on Monday for, I believe, 6 more fillings and schedule oral surgery to remove my wisdom teeth. I am petrified about having my wisdom teeth taken out ...
So that pretty much brings us up to speed. Keep Jared in your prayers (school) and my teeth as well!

Tickets!
Otherwise things are continuing very much the same for both of us. For the long weekend (Martin Luther King Jr. day) Jared and Andy are headed to visit the Blakes in OKC and a day trip to see Andy's new house in Wichita. I am headed to Indiana with my Momma to see my Grandparents. Should be very fun all around!
And now I get to say, 'I'll see Jared next month!' :)

2009 Books I Read
First, I must stop re-reading so much! That being said, in my deffence I feel that I had a valid excuse for all the re-reading I did last year. When I am homesick, unhappy, or stressed I like to read. Not only do I like to read, but I crave books that are old friends. The defence rests.
Second, I am going to make it a point to keep a running list of this years reading so as not to forget any books (which I feel I most certainy have here) and to remind myself to branch out and try new and different reads.
> Winter Solstice -Rosamund Pilcher
As you will doubtless be able to tell, I love this author and this is my favorite book of hers. I actually read it twice this year.
> Sherlock Holmes Vol. I -Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
I had never read any Holmes before and found that I liked it, not loved, but liked. However I did like it well enough that I would like to read volume II next year.
> The Swiss Family Robinson - Johann Wyss
A complete diparture from the Disney movie! This book was a bit slow going at times, but over all I enjoyed it. Lots of lessons on religion, morals, nature and going back to the simple things.
> The Americanization of Banjamin Franklin - Gordon Wood
I love reading about history. This book was quite informative and I learned many news things. But I wont lie, it was tough going at times as the material got a bit dry.
> Coming Home - Rosamund Pilcher
Again, a favorite writer. A great book! But I am a total sucker for any type of WWII historical fiction.
> Firefly Summer - Meave Binchy
Another author I like, however this book was a miss for me. It was quite lengthy and I felt she ended it very poorly.
> September - Rosamund PilcherNotice a theme? This is my second favorite book of hers ... or maybe third ... or maybe it ties for second ... anyway, it's a great read!
> Flowers in the Rain - Rosamund Pilcher
A collection of her short stories. Perfect for reading when you are busy, before bed, or waiting at the doctors office.
> Anne books 1-6 -Lucy Maude Montgomery
All time favorite books! The end.
> Harry Potter book 1-7 -J.K. Rowling
Everytime I re-read these I get sucked in all over again and end up liking the books even more. These are fabulous fall reads.
> Home Comforts: The Art & Science of Keeping House - Cheryl Mendleson
This is more an encyclopedia than a book. Needless to say I have not read it cover to cover. However, what I have read I LOVE. It is a great reference book.
> What Would Jesus Eat - Don Colbert, M.D.
This is not my usual line of reading, however I'd heard a lot about it and gave it a whirl. Quite thought provoking and motivating.
> The Diplomats Wife - Pam Jenoff
Eh, not overlly impressed.
> Bleak House -Charles Dickens
I love Dickens! He is so funny. This book was quite epic, and I had a little trouble keeping people straight, but I loved it! Will re-read it ... sometime. (BBC also recently put out an excellent mini series of Bleak House, I recomend it!)
> The Blue Bedroom and Other Stories - Rosamund Pilcher
Another collection of her short stories; they are lovely!
> Sense and Sensibility - Jane AustenOne of my favorites of hers. You just can not read it too many times, and I find it quite humourus.
> A Christmas Carol - Charles Dickens
I read this every Christmas time and I love it! Funny, warm, and just the perfect Christmassy book.
> My Life in France - Julia Childs
I was inspired to read this after seeing Julie and Julia which I loved. I loved the book even more! It wasn't so much about cooking as her style of writing and reading about Europe during the 1940s-50s.
Note: I attempted A Room with A View - E.M. Forster and couldn't get through it. YUCK!

I hate the dentist
At any rate, I scheduled an appointment for next Tuesday to start in on the cavities and to figure out the possible root canal and to determine weather or not I have to loose my wisdom teeth. As much as I do not want to undergo any of this, or pay for it for that matter, it would be nice to get it done here where I have people (my mommy!) who can take time off and baby me.
I think I will tell the dentist on Tuesday not to tell me if he finds my tooth root canal worthy. Just keep going and pretend you're still filling the cavity ...

2 months, 1 week, 2 days
I keep having to remind myself that at the end of the 2+ months I am not going back to Enid! I am headed to California, land of sunshine and outlet malls and fresh produce closer than 1.5 hours away!! Lately whenever I'm in Ohio I feel like I have to cram as much 'civilization' into my time as possible. I guess that isn't really an issue any more.
Jared is doing well in school. He gets his coursework done and completes his sims daily. At the end of last week he and his 'stick partner' started their first 3 hour sim rides. Jared really enjoyed that because it means the rides are getting more complex and they are learning more of the fun stuff. He is scheduled to fly his introductory ride sometime next week as well. Since he has flown in the C-17 before it's not as big a deal as it could be, but still exciting! I can not wait to hear about the first ride where they actually let him do some of the flying. It still boggles my mind that my husband is going to actually fly those giant planes! Aside from school, Jared hates Altus. He says it makes Enid look awesome ... it must be horrible! However he and Andy are headed out of Altus for the up-coming long weekend.
Things here in Ohio are good. I've been pitching in around the house, mostly because I miss having my own to manage, cleaning and cooking and such. Luke and I took down Christmas on Friday. I have been gathering paperwork in order to start the application process for my California nursing license. Not fun, but necessary. This coming weekend Mom and I are headed back down to Indiana to spend a long weekend with my Grandparents. (Take down their Christmas as well, cook yummy things and visit!) Really looking forward to the winter Olympics and planning a week long visit to see Jared in February.
Please pray for Jared as he finishes at Altus, and for a smooth transition out to California! I'd love to arrive and get our housing situation figured out quickly. However, that one is going to require a LOT of prayer!

First Post
But today, here I am, back at Mom's without a whole lot to do once again. I have much to update via. pictures of Christmas, but that will have to wait a little longer. We are supposed to be hit with another snow storm this afternoon and Luke and I have errands to run before the weather gets bad. However, a few updates ...
Jared made it back to Altus on Sunday night (Jan 3rd) and has started sims and computer classes again. He has a night schedule this week, so his sims have been scheduled until 11pm-12am. YAWN! But he enjoys the sleeping in part. Next week he is supposed to fly in the C-17 for his introductory/orientation flight. Exciting! Still on track to be done on March 19th. California here we come!
Luke and I spent a nice few days up in Michigan at Dad's house. Had good food, went to see Sherlock Holmes at the movie theater, played games (I took over the world in RISK) and had a good time. We drove back yesterday, and thankfully the weather pretty good. We were planning on staying a week, but Luke started at the Greentown fire dept. last night (getting sworn in, paperwork, etc.) so we made an early return.
Today Luke and I are going to get some errands run before the snow gets here and then snuggle up inside with movies. :)
Our life together begins
